Why I Started Outer Frequencies Radio
What this Substack is all about + what to expect
Hey, thanks for being here!
I’m Dylan, the guy behind Outer Frequencies record shop. As a record store owner and music junkie, I’m listening to all types of music all day, every day. I share a lot of my favorite albums in my record shop and on social media, but I also end up sitting on a lot of gems.
People have been asking where they can find more of what I’m listening to, and Outer Frequencies Radio is my answer to that.
I started this Substack to share more of my favorite finds with people who love discovering music that’s curated by real people instead of algorithms, and in this case... curated by me.
Each month, I’m releasing a fully sequenced Outer Frequencies Radio playlist with two hours of music, programmed start to finish like a radio show, and featuring new releases, deep cuts, and longtime favorites that deserve more attention. Mid-month, I’ll also share a shorter Outer Frequencies Spotlight playlist, a focused listening session built around a specific sound, scene, or idea. (Playlists available on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube.)
I’ll also be talking about under-the-radar artists, record labels, albums that I’m digging, music discovery resources, and other fun stuff. If you enjoy listening to all types of music from jazz, soul, hip-hop, electronic, rock, pop, and anything in between, this is for you.
Whether you’ve been following Outer Frequencies from the beginning or just stumbled in today, I’m glad you’re here.

Great to see you here! Always appreciated your great recs.
I’ve been off IG for a while and your account was one I missed most - and while I hop on TT occasionally it’s not my favorite. There’s a great little music community on this platform.
Hopefully these idiotic tariffs will be gone at some point so I can order some wax from your shop.
Cheers!
I'm so excited! Your Insta is great, your taste is phenomenal, and I just paid for a year based on a handful of your videos!
Very, very thrilled to hear more recommendations. Would love a paid DJ- hosted show ... but understand that licensing is very tough.
Cheers!!
